After waiting the appropriate year to ensure that Conan O’Brien didn’t look like a dick, TBS has canceled its now-superfluous late-night talk show, Lopez Tonight. The program seemed marked for cancellation ever since Conan arrived and bumped it to midnight, yet the network kept it around specifically at O’Brien’s request so it wouldn’t look like he was muscling him out, because oh, the irony. At the time of O’Brien’s arrival, George Lopez was all smiles and “I believe that Conan O’Brien coming to TBS is good for my business.” Having thus invested everything he had in his belief in the free market, Lopez Tonight is going out of business after tomorrow night’s show.
