Lorde debuts a bunch of new music at a surprise pre-Coachella show

It’s been almost three years since youthful Grammy winner Lorde last played an actual concert (as opposed to awards shows SNL), a streak the “Royals” singer broke last night with a surprise show in California. Lorde abruptly tweeted out the details of the show a few hours before it was set to start, announcing that she’d be performing in tiny Pioneertown, California, and that tickets would only be $20 (because she’s now 20 years old).

The sudden concert wasn’t just a chance to get out the pre-Coachella jitters—although she’s set to perform at the festival on Sunday. It also served as the world premiere for a number of songs from her upcoming second album, Melodrama. Various cell phone cinematographers managed to get down portions of the set list, including a new song, “Sober,” and the recently debuted “Green Light”. Meanwhile, Pitchfork has a photo of the entirety of the set list.

Melodrama officially releases on June 16. In the meantime, Lorde’s Coachella set will be streaming at 9:20 p.m. Pacific on Sunday night.
