Lost fans petition Disney for their own real-world island
Perhaps inspired by Josh Holloway’s charming con-artist, Lost fans have presented Disney with that most venerable and effective of media campaigns, the Internet petition, in the hopes of transforming Tom Sawyer Island into a Lost-themed attraction. The artificial island, which was repurposed in 2007 to tie-in with the Pirates Of The Caribbean franchise, currently plays host to a bevy of costumed pirates and pirate-themed distractions. The petitioners’ ideas for the island include immortalizing “The Frozen Donkey Wheel” and “Ruins.” The petition apparently began as a Twitter conversation between Lost blogger Jon Stueve and Entertainment Weekly writer Doc Jensen. Since then, Lost writer Damon Lindelof has signed.
