Following three seasons of episodes that further blurred the line between comedy and tragedy, Louie announces its May 5 return with the sight of Louis C.K.—clasping a bouquet of red roses that stand out, Schindler’s List-style, against the bleak black-and-white backdrop—taking a header off the Brooklyn Bridge. Naturally, some may see this as symbolizing his character taking a romantic plunge, and maybe that doesn’t work out so great. Still others may see this as symbolizing his character literally jumping off a bridge, maybe while holding some flowers. But we prefer to see it as symbolizing that, this season, Louie finally realizes he’s a merman, and he decides to return home and start life anew under the sea.
