Louis CK outsmarts actual smart people on Jeopardy!

Further embarrassing the Washington elite still reeling (we assume) from Michael Steele’s and Anderson Cooper’s terrible performances on Tuesday, last night Louis CK, a stand-up comedian who has made a career out of calling himself a big dumb piece of shit on stage, handily beat two well-respected journalists on Jeopardy!.

The journalists in question were The Washington Post’s Jonathan Capehart and CNN’s Kate Bolduan, and while both managed not to whiff as badly as their colleagues earlier in the week, CK still won with relative ease. Things started out rough when CK couldn’t answer the first question in the “Louis, Louis” category designed obviously just for him. But Louis CK feeds on humiliation like a hummingbird on nectar, and he came back in the Daily Double to win with $18,399.

CK’s win means that Jeopardy! will donate $50,000 to the Fistula Foundation, a group that treats women with the childbirth injury obstetric fistula in developing countries. In CK’s own words, “Usually it means they become shunned and nobody will hire them or educate them or marry them. It’s a terrible thing, and the operation is very simple. So this group makes sure they get the operation, and gets them back on their feet.”
