Because The A.V. Club knows that TV shows keep going even if we’re not writing at length about them, we’re experimenting with discussion posts. For certain shows, one of our TV writers will publish some brief thoughts about the latest episode, and open the comments for readers to share theirs.
- I’m digging the return of the Denny Duquette Memorial Clinic this season.
- Given that Owen and Amelia rushed into marriage, it makes sense that the show would do a “we don’t even know each other!” plot at some point. But the idea that they wouldn’t even have discussed whether or not they wanted to have kids after that singlehandedly destroyed Owen’s relationship with Cristina is absurd. However, I do like the idea that they’re both survivors of messed up situations and can relate to one another on that level. Their bedroom heart-to-heart is a rare dramatic Grey’s scene that’s allowed to play out without music and that adds some additional weight to their confessions.
- Is Tamir (Ravi Patel) the first Indian-American doctor in Grey’s Anatomy history? Better late than never I guess!
- I’m glad this show hasn’t forgotten about the Owen/Meredith friendship. Also Kevin McKidd pulled some amazing faces in that elevator scene.
- The reveal that Daniel was paraplegic before his glider accident was a great fake-out and one I’m surprised Grey’s hasn’t pulled before.
- DeLuca healed insanely quickly right? I guess Jackson knew he needed to get Giacomo Gianniotti’s chiseled face back in action ASAP.
- “I would, but I don’t want to.” No-nonsense Meredith remains the best Meredith.
- To be clear: Alex should 100% lose his job and probably go to jail too. He didn’t just punch DeLuca, he fell into a blind range and almost killed him. But as much as I’m loathe to support any kind of attempt to make us sympathize with him, watching Alex and Webber team up to help (what they assume is) a young alcoholic teen is very sweet and an interesting character pairing the show hasn’t really used before.
- I fear we’re headed towards a Jo/DeLuca romance, which might officially make them the most boring couple in Grey’s history.
- Though it goes unmentioned, Derek’s death adds so much weight to the scene in which Meredith tells Daniel that the worst hasn’t happened because Polly is still alive. Grey’s is far less patient-centric than it once was, but Polly and Daniel make a mostly good impression with the limited screen time they have. As does Emma actually. Her tearful relief that she wasn’t imagining her symptoms was very affecting.
- Are those hospital steps a new location? It’s very Gossip Girl and I love it.
- Against possibly all of my better judgments, I’m still rooting for April and Jackson. Sarah Drew and Jesse Williams have an easy chemistry together, especially now that Grey’s has moved away from their constant fighting.
- On the other hand, I’m more ambivalent about the Riggs/Meredith pairing. He’s far more likable than that bland military hospital guy she briefly dated last season, but this weird love triangle storyline is doing no one any favors. Meredith needs to tell Maggie what’s going on and Maggie needs to get over her Riggs crush. So say we all.
