Love is a battlefield—a Lip Sync Battle-field

Love is a battlefield—a Lip Sync Battle-field

Here’s what’s up in the world of TV for Wednesday, October 12. All times are Eastern.

Top picks

Justin Timberlake + The Tennessee Kids (Netflix): Are you from Tennessee? Because you’re the only 10 I see. How many times do you think Justin Timberlake and/or any member of The Tennessee Kids have heard that one? None? None times? You’re probably right. But even though no one’s receiving any dope pickup lines, that shouldn’t stop you from enjoying “the final performance of Justin Timberlake and the Tennessee Kids’ 20/20 Experience World Tour.” Filmed in Vegas, baby—a place for which we have no pun-based pick-up lines. So put on your suit and tie as you let the groove get in, in front of your mirrors. Just don’t forget to skip any songs from The 20/20 Experience Part 2. Because woof.

Lip Sync Battle (Spike TV, 9/9:30 p.m.): Lip Sync Battle returns for its third season with a face-off for the ages: Sir Ben Kingsley versus John Cho. There’s really not more to add to that. It’s Lip Sync Battle—which is Spike TV’s version of The Voice, without singing—and it’s a knight versus John freaking Cho. (The second episode is Jimmy Fallon versus Dwayne Johnson, but we all know how we want that one to shake out, right?) Kingsley versus Cho should sell itself, no? If not, Lip Sync Battle’s got this up its sleeve:

The Real World Seattle: Bad Blood (MTV, 10 p.m.): Sadly, this ruins the music theme we were going with, but yadda yadda yadda, MTV used to play music. Good news: The Real World’s going back to Seattle. Bad news: It’s continuing its gimmick nonsense. So instead of just sending it the way of Road Rules and then bringing back Road Rules, it’s going with Bad Blood. “Seven strangers move into an upscale loft in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood with the hope of starting an exciting new chapter in their lives, but what they don’t know is there are seven other people coming to crash their party.” 14 people living in one house can lead to chaos. Who knew? No one who’s on this show, obviously. By the way, there are now 32 seasons of The Real World.

Premieres and finales

Property Brothers (HGTV, 9 p.m.): In the ninth season fall premiere, the Property Brothers take on a “Dream City, Dream Job, Dream Home.” And guess what? That’s exactly what it sounds like: “A vintage century home reveals a surprising dark side that may derail the budget when two globe-trotting Aussies move to their dream city for dream jobs.” Actually, the “surprising dark side” sounds a lot like this house is haunted. Nine seasons in and it’s time for stunts, huh?

Criss Angel: Trick’d Up (A&E, 10 p.m.): Just when you thought it was safe to go outside, no longer in fear of mindfreak, Criss Angel shows back up to get you all “trick’d up.” We’re sorry. In this one-hour special, “Criss Angel performs with a renowned crew of illusionists nicknamed ‘The Supernaturalists.’” A&E follows this up with two episodes of Criss Angel: Mindfreak, so it really isn’t a safe time.

Little Women: Atlanta (Lifetime, 10 p.m.): In the second season finale, “Little Women, Big Hair,” you guessed it: The little women of Atlanta have big hair. Why? Because the ladies are walking “the runway at a premiere hair show in Atlanta” tonight. That’s not all the drama though, of course. “Amanda comes to Andrea’s rescue after Chris reverts to his old ways; Bri faces a decision that could divide her family; and Monie prepares to share news with her friends.” But remember: All roads leads to the premiere hair show runway.

That Awkward Game Show (Spike TV, 10 p.m.): According to Spike TV, That Awkward Game Show isn’t a game show version of the Zefron/Teller/Jordan bromantic comedy That Awkward Moment. Yeah, we know—that sucks. Instead, That Awkward Game Show “is a hilarious new game show where parents and their adult children compete to win a large cash prize while learning some of the most ridiculously shocking truths about their next of kin.” Oh, so it’s a game show that would’ve fit in perfectly on MTV in between Next and Parental Control. That’s cool in its own way, we suppose.
