Luca Guadagnino to turn Bob Dylan's Blood On The Tracks into a movie

Bob Dylan’s 1975 album Blood On The Tracks is already sort of a story about Dylan’s crumbling marriage to his first wife, but it sounds like Call Me By Your Name and Suspiria director Luca Guadagnino is going to turn it into an actual story by adapting the album into a movie. That news came up during a long profile on Guadagnino from The New Yorker, during which Guadagnino noted that screenwriter Richard LaGravenese (who was a producer on Call Me By Your Name) had acquired the rights to the Dylan album and wanted Guadagnino to make a movie based on it. Guadagnino agreed to do it, but only if LaGravenese—who wrote Bridges Of Madison County and Behind The Candelabra—would write it himself.

LaGravenese agreed to do it, and he told The New Yorker that his screenplay is a “multiyear story” that’s set in the ‘70s and follows the same “central themes” as Dylan’s Blood On The Tracks album. It sounds like this isn’t going to be an Across The Universe-style musical with the characters singing Bob Dylan songs to illustrate their emotions in a particular moment, but that’s probably for the best.
