It looks like Xena and Gabrielle’s fairy-tale wedding will have to remain in the realm of fan fiction as Deadline reports that Lucy Lawless has called a mulligan on her promises of a Xena: Warrior Princess reboot. The whole thing seemed to be moving along nicely, with The Hollywood Reporter appearing to confirm that a reboot of the fantasy series was actually happening the same day as Lawless teased the possibility in an interview. Maybe a little too nicely, as Lawless promptly walked back her (rather assertive) comments on Twitter later that day:
It’s frustrating, because Lawless is basically rebuking rumors that she started in the first place. But maybe this is for the best. This is NBC we’re talking about, and NBC’s history of remaking cult-classic TV shows featuring strong female characters is inconsistent at best.
