Was there a more significant moment at this year’s Comic-Con than when Luke Cage showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker told attendees that the world was ready for a “bulletproof black man?” We doubt it, but then we also got our first look at the ground-and-bone-breaking new Netflix series that stars Mike Colter as the titular hero. Now the streaming company has released the first official trailer for the series, which teases Cage’s origins, abilities, enemies, and allies. Netflix Marvel-verse regular Claire Temple (Rosario Dawson) makes an appearance to nudge Cage from vigilante to Defender. He briefly demurs, but once he steps up, everyone else is going down.
Luke Cage premieres September 30 on Netflix. Yes, that’s still a month away, and no, we don’t know what you’ll do until then.
