Luke Cage’s heavyweight soundtrack is getting a heavyweight vinyl release

Unless you’ve been watching with the sound off, it’s impossible not to get absorbed in the soundtrack for Marvel’s Luke Cage. A collaboration between Adrian Younge (Twelve Reasons To Die) and A Tribe Called Quest’s Ali Shaheed Muhammad, the Luke Cage soundscape slinks through a musical legacy that spans spaghetti westerns, classic R&B, the brassy funk of ’70s blaxploitation, and of course, East Coast hardcore hip-hop.

Now, courtesy of Mondo, you can own the soundtrack that composers Younge and Muhammad describe as “a place where classic cinema meets classic hip-hop.” Marvel’s Luke Cage Original Soundtrack 2xLP features artwork by Matthew Woodson and is pressed on heavyweight, 180-gram vinyl in “Power Man Yellow”. The double album goes on sale tomorrow at 12PM CST over at Mondo, for $35.

If records aren’t your thing, the soundtrack will also available digitally tomorrow from your preferred online music provider. For more information, you can follow @MarvelMusic for details as they become available.

And if you’re really into the sweet, sweet sounds of Younge and Muhammad, and in the L.A. area tonight, a live, 40-piece orchestra will be performing select music from the series as curated by the composers. The Theatre at Ace Hotel is hosting the show, which begins at 9PM. As of right now, tickets for Marvel’s Luke Cage: The Live Score are still available here.
