M. Ward lashes out against The Man

From Pitchfork: Singer-songwriter M. Ward posted a terse statement on his MySpace blog regarding Mastercard using an obvious rip-off of his Daniel Johnston cover "To Go Home"—cut for his fine 2006 album Post-War—in a cheesy commercial praising the (blech) dignity of Red Sox and Yankees fans. "Mastercard was denied permission by M. Ward to use his version of Daniel Johnston's "TO GO HOME"," the statement reads, "so Mastercard found some anonymous musicians to re-record the song. Neither M. Ward nor the musicians that appeared on his version have any involvement in this recording or the commercial." Selling out willingly is one thing, but selling out against your will? That ain't cool, Mastercard. Here's the offending commercial:
