In addition to seeking an assistant to keep him and his fan club up to date on the dankest Mac memes, famously chill indie rocker Mac DeMarco has just announced a fan-fiction contest. DeMarco and his crew are looking for “a fun, original piece about anything Mac related” and are accepting submissions from May 1 through August 15, which should give you plenty of time to spruce up your short story about going rollerskating with Mac and Wayne Coyne or challenging Mac to a hat-stacking contest. Winners will receive “a drawing of himself/herself with Mac illustrated by one of Mac’s favorite artists, Stefan Marx,” plus a shout-out in in DeMarco’s fan club zine.
All of this silliness is building up to the release of DeMarco’s next album, This Old Dog, which is launching May 5. To mark the beginning of this prestigious fan-fiction challenge, DeMarco has also shared “One More Love Song,” the fourth single to be released from the upcoming record.
