MacFarlane's not going anywhere, is a rich bastard

Despite getting axed by FOX not once but twice, Family Guy is now the network's top-rated comedy (yes, even over The Simpsons, deal with it), a fact that surely worked in MacFarlane's favor when he inked a deal reportedly worth $100 million-plus with 20th Century Fox this week. The deal makes MacFarlane (who writes, produces, and voices much of Family Guy and its bastard offspring, American Dad) the highest-paid writer/producer in television, and secures his place at 20th Century Fox through 2012. The deal keeps him on as executive producer for his current shows (as well as the upcoming Cleveland spin-off), secures him a cut of the estimated $1 billion in Family Guy DVD/merchandising revenue, and encompasses development of future projects.

So in short, don't expect MacFarlane's particular style of humor to leave the airwaves anytime soon. Don't tell the South Park guys, they'll be pissed.
