We have to imagine it can’t be easy working at Madame Tussauds’ wax museum, which seems like the sort of job where people only really pay attention when things start going wrong. Like when you can’t stop people from pretending to have sex with your wax Nicki Minaj, or your Beyoncé statue gets called out for looking like a light-skinned hybrid of Lindsay Lohan and Shakira.
Tussauds’ New York location came under harsh internet fire this week after a picture of its rendition of Queen Bey started making the rounds online, and was found wanting. The museum initially put the blame for the statue’s inaccuracies on bad lighting and flash photography, but eventually relented from the social media pressure, pulling the sculpture down so it could be fixed. Per SPIN, it’s now back up—although pictures of nu-Beyoncé haven’t yet surfaced online—with the museum assuring fans that it’s “adjusted the styling and lighting of her figure,” adding, “We love, respect, and enjoy a working relationship with Beyoncé.”
