Malin Akerman and Kellan Lutz are coming back to The Comeback
Last month, HBO confirmed that it would be reviving The Comeback for another season. The series, which ran for 13 episodes back in 2005, followed Valerie Cherish (Lisa Kudrow), a once-popular actress given a chance to revive her flagging career after getting cast on an insipid network sitcom. Along with Kudrow, several members of the original cast were initially confirmed to return—including Laura Silverman as long-suffering reality TV producer Jane, Robert Michael Morris as flamboyant hairstylist Mickey, and Lance Barber as hostile sitcom writer Paulie G.—but it’s been unclear whether Malin Akerman and Kellan Lutz would be reprising their roles as Chris and Juna, Kudrow’s castmates on Room And Bored, the show’s sitcom-within-a-sitcom. But now Deadline has confirmed that both actors will appear in the new season, although neither is expected to be in all six episodes.
Since appearing on The Comeback, Akerman and Lutz have gone on to bigger things, with Akerman landing the role of the trophy wife on The Trophy Wife and Lutz playing assorted mythical creatures in movies like Twilight and The Legend Of Hercules, often without the aid of a shirt. It can be assumed that neither actor can commit to being on the series as a regular because of their hectic schedules, implying a level of stardom to which Valerie Cherish can still only grasp at desperately.
