Marc Forster will obviously not be directing the World War Z sequel

The Hollywood Reporter confirms that Marc Forster will not be back to direct the World War Z sequel. The announcement comes as little surprise, given the production problems that infamously plagued the zombie film’s shoot. Tensions reportedly ran high on set between Forster and producer/actor Brad Pitt when the film’s elaborate battle sequence climax was rewritten and reshot as a more suspenseful, intimate third act.

The sequel is still in very early stages with Pitt saying, “We are talking about it. We are going to investigate a script. We have a lot of ideas we will cull from. Nobody is writing just yet, but we are compiling our ideas.” Presumably those ideas involve Pitt’s character surviving more plane crashes, drinking more Pepsi, and doing it all while spilling virtually no blood.
