Marc Maron's IFC show has a premiere date and lots of famous people

The time between the announcement of Marc Maron’s WTF-based show on IFC and its premiere has been as necessary yet interminable as an obligatory plug for Stamps.com, but finally there’s some concrete information on its premiere. Maron will debut on May 3, telling the only slightly fictionalized tale of a comic named Marc Maron who runs a podcast out of his garage, while the show will have a similarly reality-blurring mix of guest stars playing characters and themselves. Among the former, Judd Hirsch plays Marc’s father (taking over Ed Asner’s role from the pilot), Mad Men’s Nora Zehetner will play his girlfriend, and Andy Kindler and Josh Brener will play his loyal pal and assistant, respectively. In as-yet-undefined roles, Maron will also see appearances from Mark Duplass, Illeana Douglas, Dave Foley, Jeff Garlin, Bobcat Goldthwait, Ken Jeong, Denis Leary, Aubrey Plaza, Adam Scott, Eric Stoltz, and Danny Trejo—all of them either sitting down for WTF interviews, or doing something else. As listeners of the podcast know, Gina Gershon, at least, will be kissing Maron, though it’s not clear if she’s doing so as Gina Gershon. Prepare for that sort of confusion on a regular basis.
