Mariah Carey is getting an autobiographical drama series
Though Mariah Carey’s already given us a glimpse into her luxurious life via a docu-series (not a “reality show,” because Mariah Carey has long since transcended reality), the diva is now getting ready to show us how it all began. Deadline reports the Emancipation Of Mimi artist is producing a drama (what else?) based on her life, charting the bi-racial Grammy winner’s rise from humble (yes, really) teen and aspiring singer to one of the greatest recording artists of all time.
The show is being written by Dr. Dolittle 3 scribe Nina Colman, who will also serve as showrunner and EP. Carey will executive produce with Brett Ratner, whom she’s known for years, as well as her manager Stella Bulochnikov. And Carey has partnered with Starz, presumably because she thinks only the network that has a show called American Gods in its lineup is worthy of her series. There’s no word on casting yet.
