Marilyn Manson and Evan Rachel Wood to share some of that chemistry with the rest of us in Splatter Sisters

This generation’s Gable and Lombard—scawwy rocker Marilyn Manson and girlfriend Evan Rachel Wood, who’s a big girl now and can stay up all night and film graphic sex scenes with anyone she wants, Dad—have been confirmed to star in Splatter Sisters, the first in a planned franchise of “sexploitation-serial-killer-slasher-road-movie circa 1989” horror films. The film’s writer-director, Adam Bhala Lough, says he believes Splatter could launch an entirely new subgenre that he calls “Skinemax Cinema,” based on the shitty direct-to-cable films he would catch late at night in his youth—but you know, shitty in a deliberate, postmodern way. While that’s certainly a dubious goal to aspire to, Lough has managed to attract a couple of high-profile backers for his vision—namely veteran producer Edward R. Pressman and filmmaker David Gordon Green, who has a quote we can’t tell whether we’re supposed to read as tongue-in-cheek or not. Draw your own conclusions, we guess: “This is a role Marilyn Manson was born to play, and with Evan Rachel Wood bringing dramatic gravity to the ensemble, I have no doubt this will take the horror genre to a new level.”
