Marilyn Manson vying for a part on Eastbound And Down

In between piercing the veil of conformity that shrouds you sheeple from the true ugliness of this world, and shaking to their very core the religious institutions that have for so long enslaved us so that the Nietzschean Übermensch can emerge in a torrent of radiant blood and sparkling afterbirth, Marilyn Manson watches a lot of TV, apparently, with one of his favorite shows being HBO’s Eastbound And Down. It’s probably not surprising that the hubristic travails of an unapologetically entitled asshole would appeal to a famous musician, but while Kanye West, for example, seems content to just catch it on his DVR, director David Gordon Green told Interview recently that Manson is “obsessed” with the show, even going so far as to regularly dress up like Kenny Powers (with photo evidence at the link), which Manson’s Splatter Sisters director Adam Bhala Lough confirmed:

"I think David's actually frightened for Danny [McBride]. Because Manson wants to kidnap Danny on some King Of Comedy shit. Danny should be scared. Whenever I see Manson, he's repeating entire chunks of dialogue and dressed like Kenny. He just walks around dressed like this and fucks with people on the street. If a waiter or valet tells him, 'Have a nice day,' he'll respond, 'Don't tell me what to do.' Stuff like that. He's even dressed like this when I'm at his house watching Béatrice Dalle films and Hoarders. "

Now MTV News reports that Manson’s obsession has gone so far that he’s openly campaigning for a part on the show, telling them he’d most like to play Kenny’s assistant Stevie—a role already filled by actor Steve Little, obviously. McBride offered, “I imagine he could just cut Steve Little's flesh off and wear it, and just kind of be him,” which is all fine and flippant. But informed of Manson’s wish, creator Jody Hill responded more seriously that he’d “love that. He can play his brother,” a sentiment that executive producers Will Ferrell and Adam McKay echoed. So this could actually happen. But the question remains: Who would dare laugh at Marilyn Manson?
