Mark Hamill and James Gunn are neighbors and maybe friends now
As an adult, it can be difficult to make new friends. That difficulty likely only increases the more famous—and potentially isolated—you become. So imagine how difficult it must be for Mark Hamill to forge new friendships. Lucky for him, there’s someone like Guardians Of The Galaxy director James Gunn out there, who is not only willing to invite him over for a cup of coffee but also offer him a job.
This potentially franchise-altering friendship began on Twitter yesterday when a fan asked Gunn if he thought he could find a role for Mark Hamill in the forthcoming Guardians Of The Galaxy 3. “I think @HamillHimself lives around the corner from me in Malibu so he can just come over and we can talk about it over a cup of coffee,” Gunn replied, putting the ball firmly in Hamill’s court. Having recently wrapped up his work on the Star Wars franchise, Hamill wasn’t shy about his readiness for a new gig.
What followed was the most adorable exchange between two grown men trying to figure out how to meet up IRL.
Mark Hamill certainly wouldn’t look out of place in the Guardians franchise, which leans heavily into both 1970s nostalgia and cartoonish campiness. But it’s entirely possible these two guys will simply become fast friends over a cup of joe and start doing fun neighborly things like planning block parties. Really, anything that makes Mark Hamill happy is something we’re on board for.
