Mark Ruffalo close to playing The Hulk

According to Deadline, “actor’s actor” Mark Ruffalo is in “late-stage discussions” to inherit The Incredible Hulk from the recently ousted Edward Norton. Like Norton and Eric Bana before him, Ruffalo is something of an unlikely choice to play the Marvel superhero, considering he’s known primarily for critically acclaimed performances in indie films like You Can Count On Me and the new The Kids Are All Right. But as Deadline points out, he would certainly “bring real chops to the role” without being “an on-set asshole.” Having worked on 13 Going On 30, he’s also well-versed in sudden gigantism.
