Mark Ruffalo, Rachel McAdams, and Michael Keaton are in the (trailer for) Spotlight

This looks like a dark one, everybody. Spotlight, the new film from Tom McCarthy (The Station Agent, The Visitor) deals with the The Boston Globe’s Pulitzer-Prize winning exposé on the Catholic Church’s cover-up of priests who molested children in Massachusetts. The film looks to be a tension-filled but grim drama, with the journalists racing to get ahead of the lawyers deployed by the church to quash the story. It’s got an impressive lineup of actors, including Michael Keaton, Mark Ruffalo, Rachel McAdams, Liev Schreiber, Billy Crudup, Stanley Tucci, and more. Plus, writer-director McCarthy has a lot to prove, coming off the justly derided The Cobbler. Hopefully, this is the film that demonstrates giving Adam Sandler magical shoes was an unfortunate fluke.
