Mark Wahlberg learns love is the best weapon in new Patriots Day trailer

The new trailer for Peter Berg’s Patriots Day digs into the aftermath of the Boston Marathon bombing. While the teaser focused primarily on the explosion, this indicates that the film aims to be comprehensive, detailing the manhunt for the Tsarnaev brothers and the city shutdown. A centerpiece scene in this look features Melissa Benoist—yes, Supergirl herself—as Katherine Russell, the wife of Tamerlan Tsarnaev, being interrogated. But while many of the characters here are very much real life figures, Mark Wahlberg’s is a composite. And he gets the stirring, inspirational monologue at the end. “What I saw today, good versus evil, love versus hate,” he begins, before determining that “love” is the only “weapon.” Patriots Day first comes out in Boston, New York, and Los Angeles theaters December 21, before expanding wide January 13.
