Marsha Thomason to play a doctor monkeying with medicine on Fox’s Zoobiquity
As reported by Deadline, White Collar’s Marsha Thomason has signed on to play the female lead in Fox’s Zoobiquity, a medical drama pilot based on the book of the same name. The show will be about a human doctor who teams up with a veterinarian so they can “cure the incurable using a unique blend of cross-species medicine that’s never been tried before.” The idea of “cross-species medicine” sounds a lot creepier and more unethical than it really is, as it’s not really about, say, putting animal organs inside people and seeing what happens. Instead, it’s more about seeing if treatments that help animals can be used to help humans as well, like prescribing a healthy diet of bananas or recommending that someone gives their gills or tail a rest after surgery.
Thomason will be playing the human doctor, a woman named Kara Martins, and she’ll be joined by Downton Abbey’s Antonia Bernath, who will be playing “a shy but brilliant young imaging specialist who is more at home with her machines than with people.” Hopefully she gets in on this cross-species medicine thing as well, because if McAfee antivirus works for computers, it should work just as well on people, right?
