Martin Lawrence and Kelsey Grammer to play alternately fast- and stuffy-law-talking guys for FX

After teasing the world with a proposed sitcom in which Kelsey Grammer and Martin Lawrence finally make good on the cruelly withheld promise of the ’90s, FX has announced that it will, indeed, be doing that. The still-untitled show has received the same “10 episodes now, 90 episodes when everyone realizes this is everything they ever wanted in a sitcom” deal previously granted to Anger Management (an arrangement that has its drawbacks, certainly, but not when it involves two actors as stable as Kelsey Grammer and Martin Lawrence so long as we’re talking about the 21st century).

According to the network press release, Grammer and Lawrence will play “two Chicago lawyers from vastly different backgrounds who unexpectedly meet in court on the worst day of their lives. Brought together by fate and greed, they develop a partnership and friendship, forcing each other to find the balance between the ethical and the unscrupulous” and so on and so on and Franklin and Bash on, with Lawrence practicing law like this and Grammer practicing law like this—their various comical, Odd Couple-style differences emerging until it’s all Disorder In The Court up in here. That’s not the title, by the way, though it should be.
