Marvel announces two-hour Agent Carter premiere
Never a studio to deliver less than anticipated, Marvel recently announced that its Agent Carter series will launch with a two-hour premiere. The 1940s-era series will focus on Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell), a Strategic Scientific Reserve officer and co-founder of S.H.I.E.L.D. Carter is best known as Captain America’s love interest, because, much as they were in the ’40s, women on screen are defined by their romantic relationships.
According to Marvel’s synopsis, the premiere is set in 1946, not long after the events of Captain America: The First Avenger, when Carter finds herself being marginalized at work after the men return home from World War II. But, more importantly, “she is also trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, in the wake of losing the love of her life, Steve Rogers.” Things get cooking when Howard Stark (Tony’s father) is framed for selling his weapons to enemies of the state and enlists Carter’s help to clear his name and, if she has time, save the world by destroying the weapons.
The two-hour premiere of Marvel’s Agent Carter will air on Tuesday, January 6, and the series will run for seven episodes. You can also catch a glimpse of Agent Carter in the upcoming Avengers: Age Of Ultron, because Captain America is in that movie and she loves him.
