Marvel is re-releasing all 20 of its films in IMAX, so get a good night's sleep
You may have seen every single Marvel film that’s been released so far on the big screen, but what if you could pay money to see them all again…on an even bigger screen? You know, after you’ve also rewatched them a bunch of times now on Blu-ray or airings on FX or whatever. Are you still in?
[Long sigh.] Yeah, us too.
And Marvel Studios know moviegoers like us exist, because it has just announced that all 20 of its films will be re-released in IMAX format as part of the celebrations for its 10-year anniversary. Over the course of one week, every film—from 2008's Iron Man up through this summer’s Avengers: Infinity War (the first studio film to be completely filmed on IMAX cameras)—will be screened on the super-sized format. Surprisingly, Marvel is called this the “10th Anniversary Film Festival,” and not, “Haha, give us more of your money, you fuckin’ nerds.”
For some of the earliest movies (Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America: The First Avenger) this will be the first time they’ve been screened in IMAX. But for all of them, this will just be another chance for you to shell out a lot of money to see a movie you’ve already seen, possibly even in IMAX before. On the plus side, by breaking up the screenings over the course of a week, you won’t need to try and power through one of the now-endless Marvel movie marathons that nearly drove some of us to the brink of madness. On the other hand, that means a separate ticket for every film you want to see. So much for paying rent this month.
The complete schedule for the Marvel 10th Anniversary Film Festival is below.
