Marvel's Cloak & Dagger scores a second season at Freeform

Although you’d be forgiven for briefly forgetting there was a teen-focused Marvel superhero show currently running on Freeform—because damn if there aren’t a lot of these Marvel TV shows currently in the mix—Cloak & Dagger are nevertheless out there right now, doing some periodically intriguing work with their story of two kids trying to figure out life in a world full of shitty parents, romantic entanglements, and also superpowers getting forced on people by a shadowy, evil oil company.

It’s a story that’ll get a chance to continue, too, with Freeform announcing at Comic-Con yesterday that the series had been renewed for a second season. The network (formerly ABC Family) noted that the show has been one of their biggest hits so far in terms of both ratings and demographics. (Besides being a top performer with the network’s key targets, women from 12 to 34, it was also the network’s highest ever debut with male viewers from 18 to 49.)

Stars Olivia Holt, Aubrey Joseph, Emma Lahana and Ally Maki were on hand to announce the news to a packed crowd of Ty/Tandy fans. Cloak & Dagger is currently two episodes out from the end of its first season, with the finale airing on August 2.
