Mastodon to release seventh album, and/or first coloring book
Heavy metal rockers Mastodon have announced their seventh studio album. But Emperor Of The Sand isn’t just the band’s follow-up to 2014’s Once More ‘Round The Sun; according to Pitchfork, it’ll also be Mastodon’s entry into the lucrative world of adult coloring. The deluxe edition of the album’s vinyl release will come with a “Color-In-Your-Own vinyl jacket,” as well as “a box of Mastodon colored pencils,” ensuring that metalheads can finally express their musical rage in a safe, constructive way.
You can hear the lead-off track from the new album—titled “Sultan’s Curse—above, and see the full track list below. Mastodon’s members have been keeping busy since they last showed up in the studio, recording and touring with various supergroups, and even popping up to fight some ice zombies on Game Of Thrones. Earlier this month, they also announced a new tour, heading out with Eagles Of Death Metal to rock their way across North America later this year.
