Matt Fraction and Kelly Sue DeConnick to adapt Sex Criminals and other comics for TV

Married couple Matt Fraction and Kelly Sue DeConnick, arguably the coolest super-team in comics, are moving into the TV business. Fraction is the writer behind Marvel’s popular Hawkeye series and Image’s ODY-C, and DeConnick is the woman who masterminded Carol Danvers’ transition into the new Captain Marvel—as well as the writer of independent comics like Pretty Deadly and Bitch Planet. As reported by Deadline, the pair has now signed a development deal with Universal TV to adapt some of their comics—as well as new ideas and comics written by other people—into TV shows. Their first project will be an adaptation of Fraction and artist Chip Zdarsky’s critically acclaimed Sex Criminals, which is about a man and woman who realize they can freeze time when they have sex. This is all pretty early, so Deadline doesn’t have any details about the Sex Criminals show or where it might end up, but we think it sounds just like the sort of thing CBS would love. Assuming, of course, that Fraction and DeConnick replace the main characters with NCIS agents and the sex stuff with boring procedural nonsense.
