Matt Smith joins Natalie Dormer in zombie movie Patient Zero
According to Deadline, former doctor Matt Smith has joined Screen Gems’ upcoming zombie-ish movie Patient Zero. Smith will play the lead, a man who is “inexplicably immune” to a “super strain of rabies” that has transformed a bunch of people into—let’s just be honest here—zombies. Deadline doesn’t say they’re zombies, and Screen Gems might not admit they’re zombies, but come on. It’s a “new species driven by violence.” They’re zombies. Smith’s character can somehow communicate with the monsters, so he leads a mission to find the titular “patient zero.” Doing this will somehow help him cure the zombie virus and save his infected wife, but he’ll probably have to tap into all of the medical knowledge he picked up in his years on Doctor Who in order to pull it off.
Natalie Dormer, who plays Margaery Tyrell on Game Of Thrones, will also be in Patient Zero, but we’re not sure who she’s playing yet. We’re hoping she’s not the zombie wife, at least, since that would be a waste of a Natalie Dormer. Patient Zero will be directed by Austrian director Stefan Ruzowitzky, who is probably crossing his fingers right now that people don’t realize the zombies in 28 Days Later were also created by super rabies.
