Matthew Goode is joining The Crown
The Good Wife and Downton Abbey star Matthew Goode has joined the cast of Netflix’s popular Queen Elizabeth II drama The Crown. According to TVLine, Goode will play Lord Snowdon, the man who ultimately spent 18 years married to Vanessa Kirby’s character, Princess Margaret. Given how much screen time Margaret’s last romance took up in the show’s previous season, Goode’s presumably in for a lot of stiff-upper-lipped drama and very muted excitement.
Goode is a frequent late-season addition to well-regarded dramas; he joined The Good Wife after Josh Charles’ character died in the show’s fifth season, and served as a sort of replacement for Dan Stevens on the final season of Downton Abbey. (Given his penchant for stepping in for other departing stars, then, it’s somewhat fitting that the Watchmen star’s most recent major film role was in The Imitation Game.)
