Matthew Weiner's new series The Romanoffs gets a name-dropping teaser and an October premiere
Buzz has been steadily building up for more than a year now for The Romanoffs, the first new TV project from Emmy-drenched writer Matthew Weiner since his beloved Mad Men went off the air. Now, Amazon has finally revealed a premiere date for the new show—reportedly an anthology series about a variety of oddballs whose only common connection is a shared belief that they’re descended from the Russian royal family—and a brief, not especially revealing teaser trailer for the series.
The tone of the teaser is pretty much, “Hey, look at all the cool people who are in this,” but, to be fair, there are a lot of cool people here. As previously reported, Mad Men alums Christina Hendricks and John Slattery are both on hand, but we’ve also got Aaron Eckhart, Kathryn Hahn, Clea Duvall, Diane Lane, and several more notable stars.
The Romanoffs debuts on Amazon Prime on October 12.
