Maynard James Keenan’s band Puscifer announces new album, video
When he’s not busy taunting his legions of fans about the possibility of a follow-up to the band’s 2006 album 10,000 Days, Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan keeps pretty busy. Besides his work as a vintner and a dedicated fan of The Denzel Washington, Keenan participates in a number of musical side projects, most notably A Perfect Circle and Puscifer, a band that originally got its start as a joke on Mr. Show.
The latter band has just announced that its third album, Money Shot, will be coming out later this year, on October 30. (Very nearly the spookiest of all possible album release dates.) A follow-up to earlier LPs V Is For Vagina and Conditions Of My Parole, the album will once again see Keenan teaming up with a rotating assemblage of artists, including singer-songwriter Carina Round and A Perfect Circle’s Matt McJunkins, for a lot of very heavy industrial music, and maybe a Queen cover or two.
To go along with the announcement, Puscifer released a video for one of the songs off Money Shot, “Grand Canyon.” Interspersed with the occasional shots of masked wrestlers and overlaid with Round’s vocals, the video could work as a guitar-heavy tourism documentary for the beauty of the American Southwest, where Keenan lives.
