McG and Breck Eisner tussling over the Ouija board movie

The translation of Hasbro’s Ouija board game into the next great action-adventure film—“with influences from The Mummy and Indiana Jones,” according to Heat Vision and the forces of optimism—has somehow become one of the most coveted properties in Hollywood, with both The Crazies director Breck Eisner and McG currently trying to nudge the planchette toward “B” and “M,” respectively, while arguing that it must be the ghosts doing it, honest. In the last two weeks, each director has offered Universal his competing vision for the project, which will be based on a script by Tron: Legacy writers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz and produced under Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes shingle. That’s certainly a style-over-substance dream team—which should help, considering making a movie out of the Ouija board game experience is all loud noises and misdirection, the filmic equivalent of banging on the underside of the table and yelling, “What was that?!” Anyway, not much else is known about the storyline at this point, other than it’s a “supernatural adventure” involving a family, and it’s probably mere days away from being protested by the Catholic League.
