In a new interview, Ian McKellen confirmed he'll be returning to his role as the wizard Gandalf for the two-film adaptation of The Hobbit, the prequel to The Lord Of The Rings. Director Guillermo Del Toro–currently mopping up Hellboy II: The Golden Army, due July 11–met with McKellen recently and offered him the role. McKellen also confirmed he won't be appearing in the upcoming Magneto, a spinoff based on his X-Men character during his younger years.
