Meet Marilyn Manson, Native American hitman, in Let Me Make You A Martyr

The trailer for Let Me Make You A Martyr, the forthcoming crime drama from co-writers and directors Corey Asraf and John Swab, looks like nothing so much as one of those spare and poetic mid-’90s indie films that slowly pulls you in with its meditative mood, then unleashes some serious violence. The film got a lot of attention when it signed up shock rocker and “punch in the face at a Canadian Denny’s” receiver Marilyn Manson to play a Native American hitman, and this trailer certainly isn’t coy about showing his character. While the film is described as a revenge thriller about a pair of grown-up siblings who plan to kill their abusive father (Sons Of Anarchy’s Mark Boone Junior), Manson plays a killer hired by the father to take out the son who has rebelled against him.

Manson has described the character as a “bogeyman,” and that sense of implacable pursuit pervades the trailer, which primarily takes the form of a monologue by the son (Niko Nicotera) set to a barrage of desolate landscapes populated by troubled people. Whether it’s a dark new entry in the genre or a portentous mess can be decided when the film is released next year.
