The first full trailer for Steven Spielberg’s adaptation of Roald Dahl’s child-kidnapping classic The BFG has arrived. It begins similarly to the teaser trailer, as lonely orphan Sophie (newcomer Ruby Barnhill) is snatched from her bed by a giant hand and whisked away to a world of adventure and/or getting eaten. But where the teaser trailer stopped there, this one continues through the streets of Sophie’s hometown to ”Giant Country,” where we get a glimpse of the BFG (voiced by Mark Rylance) himself. The whole thing is just oozing with Disney magic and a Spielbergian sense of whimsy (and kids in peril, once the BFG’s child-chomping cohorts arrive), all rendered in fanciful CGI.
The BFG stomps into theaters on July 1.
