Meet the cast of Hulu's new Wu-Tang series

The clan is coming together for Hulu’s Wu-Tang: An American Saga, the 10-episode series from RZA and writer Alex Tse (Superfly) that explores the origins of America’s most iconic hip-hop groups. Deadline reports that Hulu has enlisted Ashton Sanders (Moonlight), Shameik Moore (Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse), Siddiq Saunderson (Messiah), Erika Alexander (Get Out), Zolee Griggs (Ballers), and Marcus Callender (Power) to star in the upcoming series, with Star’s Chris Robinson on board to direct.

Wu-Tang: An American Saga is set in ’90s New York and follows Bobby Diggs–aka RZA-as he assembles a group of talented young black men “torn between music and crime” in an era marked by the crack cocaine epidemic. Sanders will play Diggs, who is conflicted about his musical aspirations; he’d rather pursue hip-hop than sling drugs on the streets, even though the latter would generate quick income to care for his family. Moore will play Sha Rader, Diggs’ friend and a gunner for local gang leader Power, played by Callender. Saunderson will play Dennis, aka D-Love, who serves as the right-hand man to Diggs’ older brother, a drug dealer named Divine. Dennis eventually becomes the rapper known as Ghostface Killah. Griggs plays Shurrie, Dennis’s love interest, with Alexander as Linda, an overworked mom of four.

Also notable is Deadline’s description of the series, which will “explore and expand the band’s world.” Given the size of the group and their vast list of associates, it seems like they might need a hell of a lot more than 10 episodes to tell this story. Hopefully Hulu is aware that Wu-Tang Clan ain’t nothin’ to fuck with.
