Meet the Coens' newest outlaws in The Ballad Of Buster Scruggs' first trailer

Joel and Ethan Coen lassoed up a Best Screenplay award at the Venice Film Festival this past weekend for The Ballad Of Buster Scruggs, a Western built around Tim Blake Nelson’s namesake outlaw. The anthology was initially slated to unfold as a six-part series at Netflix, but the Coens eventually opted to stay in their wheelhouse, making one wonder just how much footage ended up on the cutting room floor. If its first trailer is any indication, the star-studded affair looks to be as hilarious as it is melancholic, populating Nelson’s cutthroat West with a rogue’s gallery of familiar faces that include Tom Waits, James Franco, Zoe Kazan, Brendan Gleeson, and Liam Neeson. Watch it above.
