Meet the women who got screwed out of going into space

Here’s what’s happening in the world of television for Friday, April 20, and Saturday, April 21. All times are Eastern.

Top pick

Mercury 13 (Netflix): While Hidden Figures may have tackled the story of the extraordinary black women at NASA in the ’60s, new documentary Mercury 13 asks the question of why there weren’t any women getting into the spaceships themselves during the early era of space exploration. While there’s an obvious answer—sexism—this engaging doc looks at the 13 women who actually underwent the tests to become astronauts, passed, and were ignored in favor of men (some of whom performed worse).

Regular coverage

Jane The Virgin (The CW, Friday, 9 p.m.) season finale
Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. (ABC, Friday, 9:01 p.m.)

Wild card

Live From Lincoln Center: Sutton Foster In Concert (PBS, Friday, 9 p.m.): I mean, this just sounds delightful.
