Memorial fund for slain Eagles Of Death Metal crew member raises more than $80,000
One of the 118 people killed in the horrific attack on Parisian concert hall Le Bataclan this past Friday was Nick Alexander, a member of the Eagles Of Death Metal crew responsible for running the band’s merch sales. Alexander was a well-known and well-liked figure in the rock ‘n’ roll community, and musicians who had worked with him, like Best Coast, MGMT, Fall Out Boy, The Black Keys, and Slowdive, have all been posting tributes to their slain colleague.
Over the weekend a GoFundMe page went up hoping to raise money for Alexander’s family in the wake of the tragedy. The fund’s initial goal of $20,00o was raised within a day, and now, two days after it was started, more than $80,000 has been raised, including a $10,000 donation from the band Panic! At The Disco. And although where exactly the donations are doing is still rather unclear—the page just says it will go to Alexander’s family, who will decide how to disperse it—a recent update to the campaign page says “we are converting this fund to taking care of more than just Nick.”
