Merge Records is selling a pretty neat vinyl subscription for its 25th anniversary
Merge Records will release a series of limited-edition 7-inches throughout 2014, in celebration of the North Carolina-based label's 25th anniversary. The 12 pieces of fancy, colored vinyl are collectively called Or Thousands Of Prizes, and they won’t be available in stores. Instead they’ll only be sold as a subscription set, proceeds from which will go to benefit Oxfam America. Records will be mailed two at a time, once every six months, and include material from Superchunk, The Mountain Goats, Destroyer, Mikal Cronin, Lambchop, Mount Moriah, The Clientele, King Khan & The Shrines, and more.
Subscribers also get a collectors' box, an exclusive T-shirt, a surprise bonus 12-inch, downloads of all the tracks featured on the records, an e-book version of The Merge Records Companion, a free download of Superchunk’s cover of Misfits’ “Children In Heat,” and first access to tickets for all special Merge anniversary events.
Subscriptions are $125 and are available now on Merge’s website.
