Metal Mary Poppins is simply quite atrocious

Flying in with a mysterious background and taking children away? Going to distant lands with bizarre imagery? Is this a Dio song or the Disney film Mary Poppins? The uber au pair may have always been metal as Hell, but it took a new video by Andy Rehfeldt to finally pull the lid off her nascent hardcore attitude.

Rehfeldt takes on the impossible-to-spell-correctly-on-the-first-try song “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” and brings in a metal arrangement, instruments, and vocals provided by Sera Hatchett and Thomas Hinds. The result is a surprisingly coherent piece that works well even within the film’s scene of rambunctious cartoon characters and thoroughly entertained (yet kind of neglected) moppets. The speed of the original song meets the needs of death metal requirements, plus the addition of a band covered in leather studs adds to the Judas Priest-esque metal factor.
