Metallica's first-ever gig in India goes about as well as that Lou Reed collaboration
2011 has been a horrible year for accidents involving stage collapses during outdoor concerts. But on Friday, it was fans wreaking damage on a stage for a change after a canceled Metallica concert in Delhi, India. The band called off the show after a security barrier in front of the stage collapsed; in a statement, Metallica later said it was "notified that there was a serious question as to whether the show could proceed with regard to the safety of the concert audience, and our first and foremost concern is always for the safety of you, the fans." Apparently the fans were less concerned with their own safety, as they furiously tore apart the stage and vandalized equipment in protest. The organizers of the show have been arrested on fraud charges after refusing to refund money for the scuttled show, which was to be Metallica's first-ever gig in India. [via Rolling Stone]
