Method Man and Redman link up with Jay and Silent Bob, as God intended

Kevin Smith’s been hyping his upcoming Jay And Silent Bob reboot since it started filming last month, offering context for some of its meta-gags while promising a number of celebrity cameos and the return of the old Clerks gang. But, as stoked as we all are to see Randal return to the View Askewniverse, we’re also intoxicated by the sight of Method Man and Redman, who are apparently filling the time they’re not spending filming a How High sequel getting stoned with Smith’s dynamic duo.

Smith revealed as much on Instagram, sharing a snap with the rappers along with a lengthy caption calling them “pitch-perfect and hysterical (and a little touching)” in what was “the single best first take I ever shot in 25 years.” Per Smith, they also utter a few of Smith’s signature phrases in “snoogans” and “snootchie bootchies.”

Does this serve as further evidence that the Jay And Silent Bob reboot will, like the duo’s last movie, consist a series of mostly empty cameos and blunt-force joke rehashes? Probably. Smith himself called it “the same fucking movie all over again,” noting that it’s a send-up of reboot culture that doubles as the very thing it’s satirizing. After Yoga Hosers, though, we’ll take it.
