MGM says fuck it, drops six figures on a movie version of The Outer Limits
Just because you’re totally financially insolvent and unable to make a sure-thing like The Hobbit or a James Bond movie doesn’t mean you can’t drop six figures on a The Outer Limits movie, apparently, so like a welfare mother who just can’t live without her Hummel figurines, MGM is paying Saw writers Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan to do just that. The increasingly-in-need-of-a-stern-talking-to studio is currently on its sixth forbearance with its 140 creditors, and reportedly cut a check to Melton and Dunstan right around the same time it asked for its latest extension. But with a guaranteed blockbuster like an as-yet-unshaped adaptation of a short-lived ‘60s sci-fi anthology show by the writers of “four of the seven Saw films,” who can complain?
