Michael Bay is being subtle (for Michael Bay) about the new Transformers movie
Director/producer Michael Bay is getting coy with the marketing for his fifth Transformers movie, forgoing his usual bombast in favor of brief teasers and cryptic Morse code. Now, he’s released another teaser for Transformers: The Last Knight, which starts production this week. Serving as a mirror image to one he released earlier this month, the new video shows a still shot of the series’ increasingly mangled primary villain, Megatron, glaring at us while ambient music plays in the background. Grading on the shaky, explosion-filled curve of a Michael Bay movie, it’s a surprisingly subtle bit of promotion for a film in which a man named Cade Yaeger (Mark Wahlberg, returning from Transformers: Age Of Extinction) has to help a heroic, gun-toting semi-truck kill his robot gods.
The Last Knight—one of three Transformers movies currently on the books, with more coming in 2018 and 2019, as regular as sentient clockwork that is also, somehow, a car—is due out on June 23, 2017.
